Amid a turbulent situation in the Middle East and concerns over India’s oil supplies, petrol and diesel rates across India showed stability on Thursday. If Gulf crude supply were to halt completely for a temporary period, the immediate impact would be logistical and price-driven.
Petrol Prices In Indian Cities (per litre)
Five metro cities had rates above Rs 100 per litre. The highest petrol prices were recorded at Rs 107.46 per litre in Hyderabad. Bengaluru rates stood at Rs 102.99, Kolkata at Rs 105.41, Chennai at Rs 100.80 and Mumbai at Rs 103.54 per litre. Delhi recorded the lowest price at Rs 94.77 per litre.

Hyderabad was once again ahead of all metro cities with diesel price at Rs 95.70 per litre.

Diesel Prices In Indian States
Kerala recorded the highest diesel price at Rs 96.38 per litre, while Telangana came next with Rs 95.70 per litre. In contrast, the lowest diesel rate in the country was seen in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where it stood at Rs 78.05 per litre.
India holds about 100 million barrels of commercial crude oil stocks - in storage tanks, underground strategic reserves and on ships voyaging towards the country - which could cover roughly 40-45 days of its requirement if flows through the Strait of Hormuz are disrupted, according to Kpler.
India imports about 88 per cent of the crude oil it needs - the raw material for fuels such as petrol and diesel - with more than 50 per cent supplied by Middle Eastern countries and transiting the narrow Strait of Hormuz, flows from which have been disrupted amid the Iran crisis.
