The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on Sept. 17, on a grand scale with a series of events planned across states. According to reports, PM Modi will be in Madhya Pradesh on his birthday where he will inaugurate a mega textile park and it will be the second time in four years that he will celebrate his birthday in the BJP-ruled state.
PM Modi 75th Birthday As ‘Sewa Pakhwada’
The BJP is observing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 as ‘Sewa Diwas’ (Day of Service) and has expanded the celebrations into a two-week-long ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2, concluding on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The programme includes blood donation drives, health camps, environmental campaigns, sports festivals, exhibitions, dialogue sessions, distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities, and the ‘Modi Vikas Marathon’.
The BJP’s youth wing will also organise a ‘Namo Yuva Run’ in 75 cities, expecting over 10,000 participants in each. The initiative will unfold in two phases-blood donation camps across 1,000 districts on September 17, followed by similar camps at every ‘mandal’ along with cleanliness drives at schools, hospitals, transport hubs, temples, parks, riversides, and heritage sites from September 18 to October 2.
How States Across India Will Celebrate PM Modi’s Birthday
Maharashtra
Maharashtra will launch a massive cleanliness drive on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, with thousands of ITI students set to clean 750 villages across the state. The campaign, led by the skill development department, will be inaugurated at 11 am in Gavhan gram panchayat, Panvel taluka, by Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as chief mentor.
Odisha
In Odisha, the state government will mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 with a massive plantation drive, planting around 75 lakh saplings across the state under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which Chief Minister Mohan Majhi described as a “people’s gift to the PM.”
Delhi
In Delhi, several infrastructure projects will be inaugurated on September 17 as part of Prime Minister Modi’s birthday celebrations, including multilevel car parks at GK and Punjabi Bagh, a long-awaited foot overbridge for Rajputana Rifles, and the Nand Nagari flyover. Home Minister Amit Shah will also launch 15 projects at Thyagraj Stadium, including new hospital blocks, 101 Arogya Mandir facilities, and 150 dialysis centres.
Rajathan
Rajasthan’s Ajmer Sharif Dargah will serve a 4,000-kg vegetarian langar to celebrate Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, as part of the BJP’s nationwide ‘Seva Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2, which also coincides with the birthdays of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said.
Gujarat
In Gujarat’s Surat, businesses are offering discounts ranging from 10% to 100% across hotels, markets, and transport services on September 17 to mark Prime Minister Modi’s birthday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1985, served four terms as Gujarat’s chief minister from 2001 to 2014, and became India’s 14th Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, currently serving his third consecutive term.
