Facts About INS Vikrant: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday celebrated Diwali with the personnel of the Indian Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, off the coast of Goa.
PM Modi also celebrated the success of Operation Sindoor, a military operation against certain terrorism affiliated locations in Pakistan. The operation was a retaliatory action against the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed as many as 26 people. PM also lauded the extraordinary coordination between the three armed forces.

-With INS Vikrant, India has begun its journey towards a home-built aircraft carrier, as INS Vikrant is India's first home-built aircraft carrier. It was commissioned in 2022 to enhance India's naval power.

-INS Vikrant is named after its predecessor, which played a key role in 1971, helping Bangladesh's liberation from Pakistan.
-INS Vikrant is 262 metres long and 62 metres wide. INS Vikrant is India's second warship. Before this, INS Vikramaditya was built on a Russian platform.
-According to the Navy, the INS variant is equal to two football fields end-to-end, and its height would be similar to 18 floors.
-The aircraft carrier's hangar is equivalent in size to two standard Olympic swimming pools, providing ample space for storing and maintaining aircraft.
-The warship is called 'city-on-move' as it is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
-The INS Vikrant can carry around 30 aircraft, including MiG-29K fighter jets and helicopters, and has a crew capacity of nearly 1,600 personnel.
-INS Vikrant took over a decade to be built. It features a 16-bed hospital, 250 tankers of fuel, and 2,400 compartments.
-Vice Admiral V. Srinivas announced that INS Vikrant, India's first indigenous aircraft carrier, has attained full operational status following the completion of its final operational clearance.
