Congress Wayanad Elect MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a powerful statement of solidarity with Palestine on Monday by carrying a handbag to Parliament with the word "Palestine" displayed on it. The Congress leader, known for her vocal support of Palestinian rights, has been critical of Israel's actions in Gaza and has regularly voiced her concern over the ongoing violence.

Priyanka Gandhi was seen carrying a handbag featuring the word "Palestine" alongside Palestinian symbols, including a watermelon, which is widely recognised as a symbol of Palestinian solidarity.

Recently, Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, the Charge d'affaires of the Palestinian Embassy in New Delhi, met with Priyanka Gandhi to congratulate her on her election victory from Wayanad in Kerala.

Earlier this year, in June, Priyanka Gandhi had strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for what she described as "genocidal actions" in Gaza. She accused Netanyahu and his government of engaging in acts of "barbarism" after the Prime Minister defended Israel’s military actions in Gaza during a speech at the US Congress.

Gandhi also stated that it was no longer sufficient to merely speak out for the civilians—mothers, fathers, doctors, nurses, aid workers, journalists, teachers, writers, poets, senior citizens, and innocent children—who were being killed every day in Gaza.

"It is the moral responsibility of every right-thinking individual, including those Israeli citizens who do not believe in hatred and violence, and every government in the world, to condemn the Israeli government's genocidal actions and force them to stop," she wrote in a post on X ( Formerly Twitter) .

She further added that such actions were unacceptable in a world that values civility and morality.
