In a major update for residents of Pune, the much-awaited Metro Line-3 from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar is set to be operational from June 15.
According to a report by Pune Pulse, the project will be rolled out in phases. Initially, the route will start from Hinjewadi and operate on 12 stations.
The remaining stretch till Shivajinagar is expected to become operational by October this year. The stretch is crucial for lakhs of commuters as it facilitates commute to Pune's major IT hub in Hinjewadi, a route which continues to struggle with heavy traffic.
The stretch spans over 23 km and is an elevated corridor, connecting the IT hub, residential and commercial routes. It will reduce travel time and ease congestion on Pune's most traffic-hit route.
The report stated that the officials have confirmed that the trial runs across the entire corridor have been completed.
