The family was allegedly aware of the relationship but still married her off to Ashish. Anjali and Sanjay reportedly met each other during their graduation in Ravla. They are natives of Sadulshahar in Churu district.

What triggered murder planning?

According to the police, Anjali was indeed unhappy with her marriage, but started planning murder when she asked Ashish's permission to return to her college in Ravla for higher studies. She was looking it as a way to meet Sanjay regularly. However, Ashish denied.

Murder planned at Anjali's parental home

According to the police, the murder was well-planned by Anjali at her parental home when she visited there 16 days before the murder. She met Sanjay there and orchestrated the whole plan.

Reportedly, Anjali and Sanjay hired two men, Siddharth and Rohit, who conducted recee of the murder spot.

How was Ashish killed?

On the day of the murder, Anjali asked Ashish to join her for an evening walk on a deserted stretch. She informed Sanjay when she went out. As all arrived at the crime scene, Sanjay, Rohit and Siddharth attacked Ashish with rods.

They beat him until he collapsed. Sanjay smothered his face after he fell unconscious. The autopsy confirmed the smothering injuries.

A plan to pass off murder as robbery

After murdering Ashish, Anjali tried to pass it off as a robbery. To do it, she handed over Ashish's mobile phone and her earrings to the accused and pretended to lie unconscious near the crime spot.

She claimed to have been hit by a biker and a subsequent robbery. However, the theory began to unravel after Ashish's autopsy report contradicted her claims. She was then interrogated, after which she confessed to killing Ashish.
