Notably, the security in Jammu and Kashmir has been heightened ever since the Election Commission (EC) announced the Assembly Election in the UT. This will be the first instance when people in J-K will exercise their franchise since the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories: J-K and Ladakh.
