Train Running Status: Dense fog in northern states, including Uttar Pradesh, has led to lowered visibility, leading to delayed flights and trains. The much-hyped Shram Shakti Express from New Delhi to Kanpur Central was late on Friday by more than 7 hours. Apart from this, several of the high-profile trains, including Shatabdi, Rajdhani, and Vande Bharat, were operating late due to the dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day.
The railways on Friday informed that most of the trains were operating late, causing discomfort to the passengers. It further informed that almost 90 per cent of the total 288 trains operating through the station were late because of the reduced visibility. It also stated that the passengers were waiting for the trains in the station premises. While the trains are mostly on time in the daytime, the situation gets worse as the fog emerges in the later hours of the day.
To regulate the operations of trains smoothly, the railway administration has cancelled several trains on a variety of routes from January 10 to February 26. Railways informed that the Surat-Chhapra weekly train will remain cancelled from January 15 to February 26. The Ahmedabad-Patna weekly train will also remain cancelled during the same time interval.
It also stated that the first train to Mahakumbh will operate from Govindpuri on Friday morning at 7.30 am. Apart from this, it was also confirmed that the residents of the city will be able to access metro services by the end of February.
Public relations officer Panchanan Mishra clarified that the chief minister had sought extra time to inaugurate the trial of the metro run to the central station. He stated that the trial run will begin as the board will get the approval from him. Earlier on Friday, the weather department stated that several districts of the state will experience light rainfall in the upcoming days.
