Nainital Accident: At least six people were killed and several others sustained injuries after their car fell into a ditch in  OkhalKanda village of Uttarakhand's Nainital district, police said on Wednesday. The six people travelling in the car died on the spot while seven people were reportedly referred to Haldwani Higher Centre.

The deceased in the accident have been identified as 30-year-old Bhuvan Chandra Bhatt, son of Dungar Bhatt, a resident of Purpuri, Umesh Pargai, son of Harish Pargai, a resident of Bhadrakot, among others. Dhari SDM K N Goswami said that they received the information regarding the accident following which a rescue operation was conducted on the spot by the administration team.

The post-mortem process is being done in the Patlot area. Three of the family, Mahesh Chandra, his wife Parvati Devi and daughter Kavita died in the accident, as reported by Dainik Jagran.

In another incident that took place on Wednesday, a 35-year-old man died when he was hit by a car while changing the deflated tyre of his pick-up truck on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway on Wednesday, police said.The police are yet to receive any formal complaint in the case and there was no arrest over the incident that took place around 1.30 pm, an official said.

"Pawan, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, was changing the tyre of his pickup truck on the Expressway near Sector 82 cut when a car from behind hit him. Pawan suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later declared dead," the police official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
