Weather Update: Northern states continued to struggle with the issue of dense fog and cold wave throughout the day on Friday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday clarified that the residents of the northern states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana, are going to experience similar weather conditions in the upcoming days. The hilly regions are expected to experience even more intense snowfall in the next week.
The dense fog led to a significant reduction in the visibility in the Delhi-NCR. While operation of 150 flights from IGI airport got affected due to the poor weather, more than 33 trains departed late and more than 100 trains arrived late at the New Delhi railway station. The dense fog has affected the lives of daily commuters too, as there were many accidents reported in the Delhi-NCR.
The weather department on Saturday stated that the minimum temperature in Delhi on Friday was 9.6 degrees Celsius. The IMD informed that northern states, especially Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, will experience dense fog for the next few days. It further advised the residents of these states to stay alert and reduce outings, especially in the morning and evening. The IMD on Saturday stated that Uttar Pradesh is expected to experience light rain in the upcoming days, leading to a further dip in temperature.
It further states that Jammu and Kashmir will experience fresh snowfall and light rain during the same period of time. Pahalgam of J&K recorded a minimum temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius on Friday. Due to the poor weather conditions in the early hours of the day, 6 flights were cancelled at the Jammu airport.

Apart from this, the IMD clarified that Punjab will continue to experience a cold wave at least till the Lohri. It further informed that several regions of Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, and Narmada Puram, are likely to receive light rainfall in the upcoming days, leading to a further dip in temperature. More than 25 cities of the state recorded a minimum temperature of less than 10 degrees Celsius on Friday.
