International Women's Day 2024: On March 8, people all around the world celebrate International Women's Day. This day is dedicated to celebrating and honouring women who have been selflessly trying to balance their professional and personal lives. The woman of today is as much ambitious as she is a caregiver in the family. Time and again it has been said that women play an important role in building a better tomorrow.

So today, let's pledge to celebrate the achievements of women in every sphere of life.

International Women's Day 2024: Theme

The theme of International Women's Day 2024 is 'Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress. While this is the official United Nations theme, the International Women's Development Agency's theme is 'The World Needs Feminists'. IWDA aims to spreads awareness about gender equality and urge more people to come forward and become feminists.

According to the United Nations theme, achieving gender equality and women's well-being in all aspects of life is of utmost importance. It invites people for joint action in five areas to help transform challenges into opportunities. The five areas include-

- According to the UN, feminist organizations receive only 0.13% of official development assistance. There is a need to support feminist change-makers.

- Gender-responsive financing needs to be implemented as it is negatively impacting women and their essential services.

- According to the UN, "Due to the COVID pandemic and conflicts, 75 million more people have fallen into severe poverty since 2020. Immediate action is crucial to prevent over 342 million women and girls living in poverty by 2030."

- UN claims gender equality is the greatest human rights challenge, benefiting everyone. So invest in women and open doors of progress.

- The current economic system disproportionately affects women, states United States. It suggests a shift to a green economy and care society to amplify women's voices.

While efforts have been made in the past years, progress hasn't been equal. This International Women's Day, let's remember to include women and take the campaign theme 'Inspire Inclusion' beyond a single day.
