Maharashtra Weather News: Heavy rainfall intensified in several districts of Maharashtra, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a rain warning in multiple places on Friday, leading to waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas. The weather conditions on Saturday are expected to follow a similar pattern, with six districts on red alert for heavy rainfall, while various areas have been placed on an orange alert.
Maharashtra Weather Today: Red Alert In Ratnagiri, Raigad, 4 Other Districts
The IMD has anticipated extremely heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, issuing a red alert in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Gondia, Chandrapur, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli. The weather department has also warned that there is a possibility of flooding in some parts of the state.
The ghats of Pune and on red alert, and the ghats of Nashik and Satara are on orange alert for possible high streams.
Yellow Alert In Konkan, Other Districts
Konkan, Vidarbha, Western Maharashtra, and Marathwada have also been placed under orange and yellow alerts. The IMD has advised fishermen and travellers to exercise extreme caution, particularly along the coast and near rivers.
Schools Shut In Palghar
Palghar District Collector Indu Rani Jakhar declared a holiday in all schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centres on July 26 due to the weather warning.
Mumbai Weather Update
Mumbai will witness a steady shower on Saturday, with an orange alert for heavy rainfall. Due to heavy rainfall in various parts of the city, commuters faced a frustrating start with delays on suburban trains and traffic snarls across major roads.
The district, already reeling under heavy showers, is expected to receive very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
