Mumbai Shocker: A chilling incident from Mumbai’s Malad area has come to light where a teacher of a private tutoring class allegedly burned the hand of an eight-year-old boy as a punishment for poor handwriting. The accused, identified as Rajshree Rathod, used a burning candle to burn her student’s hand because of his bad handwriting. The teacher has been arrested by the police, and further investigation is underway.
What Led To The Shocking Incident?
According to the Kurar police, the eight-year-old boy, Mohammad Hamza Khan, was a third-grade student at a Goregaon-based school and regularly attended tuition at the teacher’s residence in JP Dex building, Malad. On the day of the incident, the student’s sister dropped him off at the class. Later in the evening, around 9 PM on Tuesday, she received a call from the teacher to pick him up as he was crying a lot.
When the boy returned home, he told his father, Mustaqin Khan, that his tuition teacher, Rathod, held his hand over a burning candle to punish him for his poor handwriting. When Khan confronted the tutitoon teacher, she said that she had done it to ‘discipline’ the child.
His father rushed him to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali for treatment. Following the incident, the boy’s father filed a formal complaint at Kurar Police Station. The police registered a case against Rajshree Rathod under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Following the preliminary inquiry, the accused was arrested, and further investigation is underway.
