Pune News: The Pune city police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly extorting Rs 4.64 lakh from her friend by threatening to file a rape complaint against him.

According to police reports, the woman, a resident of Dhanori, befriended the complainant, who also lives in the same area, in January this year. Initially, their friendship was positive, but it later took a troubling turn when she began demanding money from him.

The police stated that the woman threatened to accuse him of rape if he did not comply with her financial demands. Over time, the complainant paid her Rs 4.64 lakh, but her demands for more money continued, as per Indian Express report.

Feeling pressured, he decided to report the matter to the Vishrantwadi police station, leading to an investigation into the allegations. Police are currently looking into the details of the case as they gather more evidence.

In separate news, a 46-year-old man, Ramchand Gopichand Manwani, was arrested in Pimpri, Maharashtra, for allegedly murdering his former employee and neighbour, Mahesh Sundardas Motwani, 45, with an axe. Manwani reportedly suspected Motwani of causing financial losses to his now-closed company, Naman Plastics, by stealing and misreporting sales. On Tuesday, Manwani attacked Motwani with an axe outside his house, striking him eight times on the head, face and shoulder. Motwani, who worked as a delivery executive, succumbed to his injuries at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital.

Following the attack, Manwani walked into the Pimpri police station with the bloodstained axe and confessed. Police arrested him and launched an investigation into the events leading to the crime. Motwani’s wife filed a complaint and Manwani has been charged with murder and criminal intimidation. Motwani is survived by his wife, son and daughter. Police revealed that Manwani had previously issued death threats to Motwani.
