Apple introduced the iPhone 15 Pro series for users in September. While the models are relatively new and not set for an upgrade for months, reports have tipped interesting details about the upcoming smartphones. In a recent post on X, formerly called Twitter, Majin Bu claimed that the company is testing an iPhone 16 Pro with a punch-hole display.
This could mean the company might be finally considering scraping off the big Dynamic Island notch in favour of a circular bezel for the front camera. In the current scheme, the notch ships with a selfie camera and Face ID sensors. According to the tipster, the company is testing the upcoming Pro model with a "hole punch" display.
"Apple is testing a iPhone 16 Pro hole punch version, but it may not be finalised. Details will depend on March next year. I guess most likely we won't see such a version until the iPhone 17," @MajinBuOfficial posted. He even shared a concept image of how the feature might work.
This concept shows in an accurate way, in my opinion, the way in which Apple will optimize the dynamic functionality already present on current iPhone in the future

But Bu noted that - "just because something is tested doesn't mean it will be released." Other rumours in the past have shared mixed inputs. While some reports claim that the 2024 Pro models could debut with an in-display Face ID and a single camera on the front. Other analysts believe the phone could still have the Dynamic Island notch. In the latest move, the company extended the Dynamic Island on the vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models.
Speaking of other rumours, Apple could introduce an 'Ultra' variant next year. According to MacRumors, the much-awaited solid-state buttons may arrive on the next-gen iPhone 16 Pro models. These models could run on the A18 Pro chipsets. Plus, the flagships will likely offer Wi-Fi 7, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and AI features.
