Former Twitter (now X) CEO, Parag Agrawal, has announced the launch of his new artificial intelligence venture, ‘Deep Research API’, with the bold claim of surpassing OpenAI’s GPT-5 and even human-level performance on industry benchmarks.
In a LinkedIn post, Agrawal said:
“We launched our Deep Research API – it’s the first to outperform both humans and all leading models, including GPT-5 on two of the hardest benchmarks.”
Powering Millions of Research Tasks
Agrawal noted that his startup, Parallel Web Systems Inc., based in Palo Alto, California, is already enabling millions of research tasks daily for both startups and enterprise clients. The company focuses on automating workflows traditionally handled by humans, aiming for “exceeding human-level accuracy.”

“We already power millions of research tasks every day, across ambitious startups and public enterprises,” Agrawal added.
Agrawal’s Career Journey
Parag Agrawal became well-known during his short tenure as Twitter's CEO from November 2021 until Elon Musk took control after its purchase by him in 2022.
His career timeline includes:
- 2006 – Researcher at Microsoft.
- 2006–2009 – Research stints at Yahoo and Microsoft again.
- 2009 – Joined AT&T as a researcher.
- 2011 – Joined Twitter as a Distinguished Software Engineer.
- 2017 – Promoted to Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
- 2021 – Appointed Twitter’s CEO.
Education and Early Life
Agrawal studied at Atomic Energy Central School before going on to attain his B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
In 2005, Dr. Chen earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, U.S. - setting off his journey into research-driven technology development.
Agrawal joins a growing movement of tech leaders leaving Big Tech and founding new AI startups, each looking to shape research automation's future and take on OpenAI.
