Google Gemini: Google has rolled out a major update to its Gemini AI chatbot, focusing on making interactions more personal, proactive, and private. With the new features, users will enjoy smarter conversations, enhanced customisation, and improved control over their data.
Personalised Responses Based on Chat History
The most notable change is Gemini’s ability to remember information from your past conversations. This new context setting for personal situations lets the AI personalise responses to your tastes so interactions feel more naturalistic the more you use it.
To illustrate, if you previously indicated that you're a fan of particular comic book heroes, Gemini might suggest event concepts, entertainment ideas, or gift ideas later on based on that titbit. This feature goes live today for the Gemini 2.5 Pro model in a few countries and will roll out more gradually to other models and countries. It's on by default but can be turned off at any time from the 'Personal context' settings section.
Temporary Chats for One-Off Conversations
For when you don't want to save a conversation for the record, Google is launching Temporary Chats. They are not stored in your history, are not employed to train Google's AI models, and automatically expire after 72 hours. It's a convenient means of keeping sensitive searches totally isolated from your primary chat history.
Updated Privacy Settings
Google is also refreshing its privacy settings. The current 'Gemini Apps Activity' option will shortly be called 'Keep Activity'. If you turn it on, a small subset of your uploads—such as files or images—can be used to enhance services. You can turn this off at any time or just use Temporary Chats and never store any data.
With these features, Google is hoping to turn Gemini AI into an even smarter, more intelligent assistant while keeping people in charge of what it knows and how their data is applied.
