South Korean tech giant Samsung announced a few hours back that it will showcase the Galaxy Ring at the high-profile ongoing tech event -Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. The company has finally presented the next-gen tech accessory for viewers at the tech show. According to a Samsung Newsroom post, the device will be introduced "later this year". The wellness accessory will offer health insights and learn based on user activity.
The smart ring will offer improved experiences with the help of the Galaxy AI and Samsung Health app. For the unaware, the company first teased the smart accessory after the launch of the Galaxy S24 series at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event. Moreover, recent reports have claimed that the wearable may debut at the second Galaxy Unpacked of the year next to the launch of the Galaxy Z series devices.
According to The Verge, the prototype of the device comes in three shades: gold, platinum silver and ceramic black. However, do note that these may or may not enter the final production stages. The prototype was available in sizes ranging from 5 to 13 and had a slightly concave shape, the report added. As for features, the accessory will offer stats based on the wearer's sleep via heart rate, respiratory and other indicators. It could also have period and fertility tracking.

The company also highlighted the My Vitality Score and Booster Card features that will debut soon. These will likely be integrated for use with the Galaxy Ring. It may offer insights based on sleep, heart rate, activity, and more. Once the owners of the device set goals they will receive updates using Booster Cards. According to CNBC, Hon Pak, VP and Head of Digital Health Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics, said that the company is planning to add a contactless payments feature to the Galaxy Ring.
According to reports, the accessory could debut with features like heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen sensor, blood pressure monitoring and more. Meanwhile, the company shared in a previous MWC 2024 release that "Galaxy Ring is being unveiled as a new health form factor that simplifies everyday wellness, supporting smarter and healthier living via a more connected digital wellness platform — Samsung Health." The company may consider a subscription-based model for the app.
