Samsung is slowly rolling out Android 16-based One UI 8 stable updates to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets, including flagships, foldables and mid-range devices in South Korea – though an expansion to other markets, including India, is anticipated soon.

Galaxy Devices Receiving One UI 8 Update

The newest rollout wave includes:

Galaxy S23 series: Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE

Foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5

Tablets: Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

Mid-range phones: Galaxy A36, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A55

SamMobile and SammyGuru reported that since Samsung started rolling out One UI 8 early this month, nearly double the amount of Galaxy devices are running the update.

Rollout Timeline and Availability

Interestingly, Samsung’s own timeline had hinted at an October release, but the update is reaching users earlier than expected:

Current rollout: Limited to South Korea

Expected expansion: Public release for other regions, including India, likely after October 2 (as per Sammy Fans, though not officially confirmed)

Users outside South Korea can manually check for the update:

1. Open Settings

2. Go to Software Update

3. Tap Download and Install

What’s New in One UI 8

One UI 8 brings many improvements and performance upgrades designed to make Samsung's ecosystem more seamless, such as:

- Better Secure Folder with stronger privacy features

- Upgraded apps like Calendar, Reminders, and Alarm

- Enhanced Quick Share for faster file transfers

- Customisation upgrades, including UI tweaks and smoother animations

- Improved device integration across Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and wearables

Final Thoughts

Samsung's early implementation of One UI 8 shows its desire to bring Android 16 features faster to users than expected. So far, the update is only being distributed in South Korea but Galaxy users worldwide should expect it shortly – possibly as early as October's first week! For now though, South Korean residents should keep their eye on their software update section to receive it first. If you own any one of Samsung's supported models like Galaxy S23, Fold 5, Flip 5 etc... keep an eye out!
