Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that every Ujjwala Yojna beneficiary in the state will be given one cooking gas cylinder free of cost as a “Diwali gift” from the government. He made the announcement while inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of various development projects worth Rs 632 crore in Bulandshahr and Rs 136 crore in Hapur district.
CM Adityanath claimed that around 1.75 crore families in the state will benefit from the free gas cylinder offer. He also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reduced the cylinder prices by Rs 300 for every household by increasing the subsidy under the scheme.
During his speech in Hapur, the chief minister highlighted several schemes being run by the BJP-led government such as PM Awas Yojna, under which 55 lakh women have become homeowners in UP and the Swachh Bharat initiative, under which 2.75 lakh toilets have been built in the state.

The chief minister said getting LPG gas connections was a difficult task before the BJP government came to power at the Centre in 2014. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Centre for making LPG accessible to the poor and rural areas which was made possible after the launch of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a central government initiative that gives financial support for LPG connection to BPL (Below Poverty Line) families.
