More than 84,000 students have successfully filled out their course preferences in the first phase of online counselling for admission to diploma courses in polytechnic institutes across Uttar Pradesh. The counselling process is being conducted by the Joint Entrance Examination Council (JEECUP) through 151 help centres established across the state.
Candidates are selecting their preferred courses and institutions on the official portal based on their academic qualifications, interests, and career aspirations. According to the data released by the council, Electrical Engineering has emerged as the most preferred course, with 37,884 students opting for it.
-Civil Engineering: 32,770 students
-Mechanical Engineering (Production): 27,924 students
-Computer Science & Engineering: 22,930 students
-Electronics Engineering: 20,282 students
Other popular courses include Mechanical Engineering (Automobile), Information Technology, Chemical Engineering, Textile Technology, Plastic Mould Technology, and Diploma in Pharmacy, the latter attracting 9,021 candidates so far.

Council Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Singh stated that the counselling process is completely transparent and technology-driven, enabling students to make informed choices without confusion. He advised all candidates to rely solely on the council’s official portal (jeecup.admissions.nic.in) for accurate and updated admission-related information.
The ongoing counselling is a key step in facilitating admissions to various diploma-level technical and professional courses offered by government and private polytechnic institutions in the state.
