In the past few years, apartment hunting in metropolitan cities has turned into a hefty task, keeping in mind the rents that are increasing on a yearly basis. However, among all the cities, the ones that are especially infamous for ‘flat and expense ’-related struggles, are Mumbai and Bangalore. Recalling the same about the ‘City of Dreams’, Mumbai, a woman took to her social media, and advocated the concept of ‘staying with parents’. The reason behind her ‘belief’ was the expensive rent that people are paying in Mumbai. But Mumbaikers had something else in mind as they began to react to her social media post.

Flooding the women’s post, Mumbaikers began to suggest her place that might be cheaper yet posh, and called her ‘belief’ a result of the ‘location limit’ that the internet user was following.

The post was shared on the social media handle X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘kebabandcoke’. The post read, “One can get 1 BHK for Rs. 50-70 thousand in Mumbai. Keep good terms with your parents, bhai. There is no need to run away from home to become independent.” The post was shared two days ago and pulled 259K views from people.

As soon as the post was shared, it began to float online. Most people pointed out the dependence on the area and suggested cheaper areas to the woman where she can rent the same size of apartments at lower prices, while the rest found the X post funny and pulled jokes. Many also agreed with her and blamed inflation for such issues.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “You must be looking at Andheri Parle's side, or even further ahead in the Juhu etc. area. You can get cheap and good locality in Malad Goregaon, 1 BHK on rent within Rs. 25k,” a user pointed out. “My favourite part of this tweet is people trying to suggest cheaper locations to you,” added another.

“Not everybody wants to settle in Mumbai,” added a third person. “Which part of Mumbai? Because itne mein Bandra toh aa jaata hai for 1bhk only. (Because you can get in 1BHK in Bandra under the same amount),” added another. “True, inflation is outpacing the salaries at a very fast speed. Getting a house, good healthcare & quality education without a big burden of loan seems like an impossible dream to many,” added another.
