Viral Video: In an incident where a police officer single-handedly ended up bringing authorities under the public scanner, a video from Uttarakhand’s Haldwani went viral and left netizens fuming and raising questions against the cop involved. The incident unfolded over a man, who was allegedly beating up a stray dog. Immediately coming to the poor one’s rescue, an animal rescuer, Shivansh Prabhakar, attempted to stop the man.
However, the matter took a legal turn when the animal attacker called the police. But the police, as per the viral post, instead allowed the attacker to continue to beat the stray dog up, revolting to which the rescuer tried to stop the attacker. As soon as Prabhakar attempted to stop the man from hitting the stray with what appeared to be a metal pipe, the cop, Mahesh Singh Martolia, instead was seen attacking the rescuer.
The video, soon after being shared, began to do rounds on social media. Most people pointed out the ‘disrespectful’ way with which the cop handled his uniform and his responsibility, while the rest extended their support towards the rescuer. Many also demanded action against the police officer and the man responsible for the alleged animal cruelty.
The video was shared on social media platform Instagram, by handles ‘Peepal Farm’ and ‘howl_voiceofstrays’. The video was shared a day ago and pulled 48K likes from people.

“This is the problem with our police system! If you’re RIGHT, they will make you WRONG. And they will always support bad people. Now I never go to the police for any help, Even If I need it,” added a third person. “This is highly intolerant behaviour which we Don’t expect from a cop at least!!! What kind of public servant is that,” added another.
