An Indian national was stabbed to death in Canada’s Rockland near Ottawa, the High Commissioner of India revealed on Saturday. According to the Indian Embassy in Canada, the authorities have taken a suspect into custody.
The details of the victim and the incident are awaited. The suspect has not been named yet. The Embassy informed that they are providing all possible assistance to the victim's family.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police has stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin," the Embassy wrote in a post on X.

The Ontario Provincial Police has warned Rockland residents to expect an increased police presence in the area, CBC News reported.

Haryana Student Was Murdered In December Last Year
In a similar case, a Haryana student, Harshandeep Singh Anttal, was murdered in Edmonton, Alberta, on December 6, 2024. He was on duty as a security guard at an apartment complex when two people attacked him. The suspects, Evan Rain, 30, and Judith Saulteaux, 30, were charged with first-degree murder.
In March, an Indian woman was brutally attacked by a man, Braydon Joseph James French, on a crowded train platform in Calgary as onlookers failed to help her. The attacker splashed water on her face and shook her violently before demanding her phone. Police have arrested the man, but claimed the attack was not racially motivated.
