Israel-Hamas War: Since it launched the ground offensive in Gaza on October 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that its military has killed 10 brigade and battalion commanders of the Hamas militant group so far. According to the IDF, more than 130 Hamas militants have been killed since the ground invasion. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesman, made this disclosure, news agency IANS reported.

The official emphasised that despite multiple provocations from the Iran-backed militant organisation Hezbollah in Lebanon, the military remained concentrated in the Gaza Strip. Hagari also admitted that the forces were fighting a tough battle inside the Hamas-controlled enclave and added that the IDF had already destroyed several tunnel systems where the terrorists were holed up.

Following the army operation on Tuesday that resulted in the liberation of the Jabeliya refugee camp, the IDF also stated that it has received a lot of information regarding the militant group. It further said that the intelligence materials obtained from the camp, which is the largest in the Gaza Strip, would be used for further attacks on the Hamas.

Meanwhile, Israel claimed responsibility for an attack outside Gaza's largest hospital, saying that a fighter jet had struck an ambulance used by Hamas personnel. "A Hamas terrorist cell was identified using an ambulance. In response, an IDF aircraft struck and neutralized the Hamas terrorists, who were operating within the ambulance. We emphasize that this area in Gaza is a war zone. Civilians are repeatedly called upon to evacuate southward for their own safety," IDF said in a post on X late Friday.

Following a violent attack in southern Israel on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of 1,400 people and the kidnapping of over 240 more, Israel has promised to eradicate Hamas, the organisation that controls the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
