Pakistan Erupts After Khamenei's Killing: At least 10 people were shot dead by soldiers after an angry Pakistani mob pushed past security and entered the US Consulate compound in Karachi on Sunday, amid heightened regional tensions following Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s killing.

As per news agency PTI, Dr Sumaiya Sayed stated that so far 10 bodies have been brought to the civil hospital. At least 30 others were injured in the wake of protests near the consulate.

Videos on social media showed clashes unfolding outside the mission, with protesters hurling stones at security personnel while police responded with tear gas to drive them back. Few other videos showed groups inside the consulate attempting to smash window panes and force their way into the main building.

Following the unrest in Karachi, demonstrations also erupted outside the US consulate in Lahore. Tensions remain high across Pakistan, with authorities closing the Karakoram Highway to all traffic.

The Iranian Embassy in Pakistan released a statement condemning what it called a “cowardly, hideous and barbaric terrorist attack” on the Supreme Leader. The statement also paid tribute to Khamenei’s lifelong commitment to the “ideals of independence, dignity, and resistance”.

Widespread anger over the killing of Khamenei, a key Shia figure, during the holy month of Ramzan has rippled from the Middle East into parts of Asia. In Iraq, demonstrators targeted the US Embassy in Baghdad, prompting security forces to respond with tear gas in an effort to disperse the crowd.

Apart from this, the streets of the Iran's capital Tehran have become stages for both anti-government celebrations and solemn mourning, reflecting the polarised state of the Islamic Republic.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran on Truth Social on Sunday, threatening an unprecedented military response after Tehran signaled it would soon hit US bases in fresh strikes in the Middle East.

Iran had warned of the "most ferocious offensive operation in history" against Israel and the United States after its Supreme Leader was killed in the joint strikes by the two countries.

"Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before. They better not do that, because of they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before…" US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social.
