Prime Minister Narendra Modi has penned the foreword to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography, describing her book as her own “Mann Ki Baat,” a nod to his popular monthly radio address to the nation. The autobiography, titled I Am Giorgia, is set to be launched in India soon by Rupa Publications.
In his foreword, PM Modi expressed his admiration for Meloni, writing, “I do so with respect, admiration and friendship for Prime Minister Meloni. Her inspiring and historic journey will be well received in India as a refreshing story of an outstanding contemporary political leader.” Modi emphasised that Meloni’s life “has never been about politics or power. It is about her courage, conviction, and commitment to public service and the people of Italy.”
A Journey That Transcends Politics
Reflecting on his interactions with world leaders over the past 11 years, Modi noted, “At times, their journeys transcend personal stories and speak to something larger. They remind us of ideals that have endured across cultures and centuries. Prime Minister Meloni has several such instances in her accomplished life, making this book very special.”

He highlighted Meloni’s pragmatic leadership and global outlook. “She has provided strength and stability to her nation. She has consistently voiced the interests of Italy with remarkable clarity while engaging with the world with responsibility and purpose,” Modi wrote. He also drew a connection between Meloni’s journey and the concept of Nari Shakti, the divine feminine energy celebrated in Indic traditions for thousands of years.
Resonance With Indian Values
Modi emphasised Meloni’s balance of rootedness and global leadership. “Her journey resonates deeply with us in India. I Am Giorgia gives readers a candid glimpse into the heart and mind of one of Europe’s most dynamic leaders. Her rise from a modest neighbourhood in Rome to Italy’s highest political office highlights the power of purpose over narrow partisan politics,” he wrote. Her focus on defending motherhood, national identity, and tradition mirrors Indian values and will resonate with readers in India.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the deeper ties between India and Italy. “We are bound by shared civilisational instincts like the defence of heritage, the strength of community, and the celebration of womanhood as a guiding force. Our nations are joined in spirit by a respect for tradition and an embrace of modernity. This is the bedrock of my own personal friendship with Prime Minister Meloni,” he wrote.
