Russia-Ukraine Tensions: Russia attacked Ukraine with a barrage of missiles and drones, killing one person in the Kyiv region, Ukraine's Emergency Service said on Sunday.
Around eight people, including a child, were rescued from beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings, as reported by the Associated Press.
The attack caused significant damage, with fires erupting across five districts in the suburbs of Kyiv. In the village of Putrivka, located in the Fastiv district, emergency responders worked to rescue people buried under the debris.

Russia also targeted energy infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region, sparking large fires that were later brought under control, the Emergency Service confirmed.
Over the four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of its neighbour, and despite intensified US-led peace efforts over the past year, Ukrainian civilians have continued to face relentless aerial assaults.
Russia has also escalated its attacks on Ukraine's energy grid, leaving civilians without electricity and heating amidst harsh winter conditions.

Ukraine's Air Force said Sunday that Russia's overnight barrage had included 297 drones and 50 missiles of various types, of which 274 drones and 33 missiles were shot down or neutralised.
Of those remaining, 14 missiles and 23 drones struck 14 locations, it said. Three missiles were unaccounted for.
In a separate incident, an explosion in Ukraine’s western city of Lviv killed one person and injured 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a Telegram post on Sunday. One individual has been arrested in connection with the incident, which is unrelated to Russia’s aerial assault on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported on Sunday that its air defences had destroyed 86 Ukrainian drones overnight.
