Kia will unveil the production-spec EV5 SUV, the automaker's third born-EV product after the EV6 and the full-size EV9 SUV, on August 25 at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. This SUV was first revealed as a concept by the South Korean automaker earlier this year.

The Kia EV5 will be supported by the modular E-GMP skateboard platform, which also supports the EV6 and the EV9. Kia, meanwhile, has announced four other electric vehicles will be supported by the modular E-GMP skateboard platform by 2026. The EV5 is likely to receive an identical powertrain option to the EV6; hence, a 75-80kWh battery pack with a maximum range of more than 482 km can be predicted.

Kia EV5 - Features

Large 21-inch tires and a roof spoiler that improves aerodynamics are also anticipated for the production-spec EV5. Expect a feature-rich cabin from Kia, complete with a touchscreen infotainment screen that wraps around the dashboard, all from materials that are sourced sustainably.

Kia EV5 - Competitors

The EV5 can be considered a potential challenger to EVs like the Volkswagen ID.4, Toyota bZ4X, and Nissan Ariya because of its size and stature. The production model EV5 will first enter the Chinese market, followed by launches in other international markets.
