Asia Cup Trophy Controversy: The International Cricket Council (ICC) could form a panel soon to resolve the Asia Cup 2025 trophy issue between India and Pakistan. India won the Asia Cup 2025 title with a famous victory over their arch-rivals Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 28.

While India lifted their record ninth Asia Cup title, they couldn't get their hands on the trophy, which was taken away by the Asian Cricket Council chief Mohsin Naqvi. The PCB chairman came up with such action after
The Suryakumar Yadav-led side refused to receive the trophy and winners' medals from him.

Amid all the chaos and waiting game, Naqvi left the stadium with the trophy and has not returned it to India so far.

In the ICC meeting on Friday (November 7), where the Asia Cup trophy issue was raised by BCCI representative Devajit Saikia, Naqvi arrived at the ICC headquarters in Dubai. As per a report in Cricbuzz, the atmosphere in the meeting was serious among the members of the ICC Board as soon as the Asia Cup issue was raised.

The BCCI pointed out that Naqvi, in the capacity of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman, was holding on to the trophy, which rightfully belonged to India, the Indian team and the BCCI. The BCCI secretary, Saikia, reportedly pointed out that the trophy should be handed over to India immediately.

"The BCCI’s stand has been that the trophy should be handed over to India soon. It is a well-known fact that the silverware remains locked up in the ACC office in Dubai, with orders from Naqvi that it should not be moved without his authorisation."

Notably, the Asia Cup 2025 was played amid heavy speculations regarding the potential boycott of the tournament following the escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam Terror Attack. A few controversies took place during the continental tournament, including India's refusal of a customary handshake with Pakistani players as a protest against the Pahalgam Attack. They dedicated the win against Pakistan to the victims of the attack and the Indian Armed Forces.
