Ishan Kishan suffered a back sprain during India’s net session on Friday, leaving the wicketkeeper-batter in visible pain and raising concerns over his fitness.

Kishan was batting in the pacers’ nets when Navdeep Saini bowled a short delivery that rose towards his chest and chin. The left-hander tried to move away from the ball but seemed to hurt his back while doing so.

The incident came after a strong performance from Kishan in the Duleep Trophy final, where he scored 270 and 80 against South Zone. He had also looked in excellent touch during Friday’s practice session.

Kishan was particularly impressive against the spinners, using his attacking game to repeatedly hit the ball into the stands. However, his session was cut short after he picked up a back issue.
