Asia Cup Trophy Controversy: The ongoing spat between ACC (Asian Cricket Council) President Mohsin Naqvi and Team India is not ending anytime soon. Naqvi, who is also the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board along with being the Interior Minister, fled with the trophy after Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India defeated Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India) had communicated to ACC (Asian Cricket Council) that the players will not receive the trophy from Naqvi for his multiple anti-India comments in the past. The organisers suggested that someone else could give the trophy to Team India, however, Naqvi remained obstinate.

Now that the moment has passed and the Indian team players have also returned home, Naqvi has found a way to give the trophy. As per a report by Cricbuzz, Naqvi has placed a condition, stating that only if a formal function is arranged, will Suryakumar Yadav and his side be able to get their trophy along with individual medals. Also, Naqvi stated that he will be the only one giving away the trophy. Interestingly, he has decided to extend the standoff with his stance.
ACC meeting to take place today at 4 PM IST
As per a report by India TV, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting will happen at 4 PM IST, where the BCCI is expected to complain about Naqvi's behaviour. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia also stated that the BCCI will protest at the ICC at its AGM on November 24.
"We have decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan. So we decided not to take it from him. But that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy with him, along with the medals. So it is very unfortunate and unsportsmanlike, and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible," Saikia told ANI.

India refused to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, on which Suryakumar Yadav said to ANI, "I won't call it controversy. If you have seen, people have posted photos of trophies here and there. But the real trophy is when you win the hearts of people, the players, the trust you earn, the support staff, the trust they have shown, the people who work behind the scenes; that is the real trophy. The real trophy is the work and effort of so many people on the field."
