IND vs SL Asia Cup 2025 Super 4: The Indian team management has decided to give star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Shivam Dube against Sri Lanka during their last Super 4 match on Friday. Inia called back Harshit Rana and Arsheep Singh as their replacements and has reduced their bowling attack and strengthened their batting attack.
It was expected that Bumrah would be given a rest. They have already reached the summit clash, which will be held on Sunday, where they will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan, and the ongoing match is a dead rubber as Sri Lanka failed to qualify for the Super Cup.
“We just want to continue doing what we have been doing," Suryakumar Yadav has been heard as saying.
“We were actually looking to bat first. Good atmosphere, good game, and we are looking forward to it. It is part of the game (dropped catches). We have two changes – Bumrah and Dube are out, Arshdeep and Harshit come in," he said.
Bumrah is not injured currently, but his workload needs to be managed as he has sustained a back injury. He had played in just 3 matches against England owing to workload management due to a hectic schedule.
What was shocking was Dube getting dropped, even though he didn't have enough time ahead of this event and was only trying to get his groove back. And that's why he had to make way for Arshdeep, since he is India's highest wicket-taker in this format.
This proves that India's batting depth will go on till the No.7 position, despite Rana not being an all-rounder, and will play as a bowler along with Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya.
