India vs England 4th T20I: The Indian batters, who were in roaring form during IPL 2026, have completely fizzled out on the UK tour. After a disappointing series loss against Ireland, Team India is now trailing against England with two consecutive losses. With the series opener washed out by rain, India's only hope now is to fight back and level the series by winning both remaining matches.

India suffered its biggest-ever T20I defeat after the batting lineup collapsed horribly in the third match at Nottingham, being bowled out for just 76. The same batters who were clearing boundaries at will in the IPL have suddenly looked clueless against English conditions. Facing a must-win situation, Captain Shreyas Iyer and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir are likely to shake things up for the fourth T20I.

Sanju Samson To Make A Comeback?

Currently, India's top three batters -- Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and Ishan Kishan -- are left-handers. This lineup makes things incredibly easy for opposition bowlers, allowing them to stick to a single line and length without having to constantly shift their field.

Bringing in a right-left batting combination would force the bowlers to alter their rhythm and tactics. To fix this, India desperately needs a right-hander at the top, and Sanju Samson fits the bill perfectly.

Given the consecutive losses and the poor form of both Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, one of them is likely to be dropped. Since Samson has a solid track record as an opener for Team India, teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might be the one to make way for him.

Changes In Bowling Department Likely

Conditions in England heavily favour pacers. With Axar Patel already in the lineup as an all-round spin option, India might not need extra spinners. Varun Chakaravarthy has been struggling since the 2026 T20 World Cup, while Ravi Bishnoi also had an off-day in the previous game, leaking 29 runs in a single over.

Consequently, the Iyer-Gambhir duo might opt for a single specialist spinner and bolster the pace attack. This could open the door for fast bowler Prasidh Krishna to return to the playing XI.
