MI vs RR IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians' Deepak Chahar seized the host's much-needed breakthrough during their match against the Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on Sunday. Chahar removed the biggest wicket of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Sooryavanshi was expected to explode during their do-or-die match but fizzled out with the bat.

Chahar hurled a lengthy delivery, targeting the stumps. Sooryavanshi swung at a big shot, but his bat sliced a leading edge. Naman Dheer sprinted toward the ball and snatched a stunning catch at deep point, toppling the teen sensation.

The fans erupted with excitement after he fell. MI captain Hardik Pandya pumped his fists energetically, grinning and embracing Chahar.

Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first in their last group-stage match this year, which is also a must-win game for the Riyan Parag-led side.

The host had dropped their star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and had replaced him with Deepak Chahar in the playing XI. The Rajasthan-based franchise made three changes to their playing XI, with captain Riyan Parag, Nandre Burger, and Ravindra Jadeja returning to the side.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya emphasized that, due to the pitch conditions, he chose to bowl first. "When we have played in the afternoon, it (the pitch) tends to get better in the afternoon," Hardik Pandya was heard as saying at the toss.

"Looks like a good track. It's hard; we will mostly play like this. Once the sun goes down, it's slightly better. Just want to come out there and give our best shot. We have had a tough season," he said.

With everything on the line, Riyan Parag spoke with evident determination. He shared how his team feels the pressure of being just one point behind Punjab Kings, the hope and anxiety unmistakable in his words as Rajasthan aims for the playoffs.

"Would have done the same thing. It could be the last game of the season. We'll play like it. All the prep and energy that went into the tournament...Hopefully, we make the most of our opportunities and get ahead in the playoffs. have this than depend on someone else", he concluded.
