IPL 2026 Auction: Suresh Raina has come up with a warning for his former IPL team Chennai Super Kings as rumours of Ravindra Jadeja's potential departure from the franchise continue to surface around. Jadeja, who joined CSK in 2011, established himself as one of the prominent all-rounders in the IPL history.

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Jadeja seems to be on his way out of CSK, with the franchise looking to swap him with Sanju Samson in a trade deal with the Rajasthan Royals. However, ahead of the retention deadline, Raina has fired a clear warning for CSK against trading Jadeja to RR.

In a chat with JioStar, Jadeja mentioned the names of top players he wishes for CSK to retain and release. Raina made his crystal clear as he asked the franchise to retain Jadeja at all costs.

"Noor Ahmad should be retained. He's a mystery spinner, so he must be kept. MS Dhoni should definitely be retained; he is playing this year, so he should remain with the team. Ruturaj Gaikwad should continue as captain. Ravindra Jadeja should be retained again. He is a gun player for CSK. He has done really, really well for the team over the years, so 'Sir Ravindra Jadeja' has to be there."

Speaking of the players Raina wants CSK to release, the veteran batter feels the likes of Devon Conway, Vijay Shankar, and Deepak Hooda are among the top candidates to be released in the auction pool.

"Devon Conway should be released. CSK need a local opener, which they will look for in the mini-auction. Vijay Shankar has already received plenty of chances. So I think CSK should release him as well. Deepak Hooda should be released too. There are a lot of players available in the mini-auction who can provide the same combination for the team. These players got their chances last year, and we saw how they played. So, probably CSK will have to look for someone new."

MS Dhoni will sacrifice Ravindra Jadeja to get Sanju Samson for CSK's future: Kaif

As CSK look to bounce back in the IPL 2026 after a horrible campaign last season, they might also start their preparations for the life after MS Dhoni. With Jadeja's potential departure, CSK might have seen a next captain and wicket-keeper in Samson, who could also be their posterboy for the next few seasons.

Amid all the speculations, the former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that MS Dhoni's goal is to make CSK champions again and he will be ready to let Ravindra Jadeja go. "For Dhoni, making the team win is the biggest goal. If he is coming to play again, he will be thinking CSK finished 10th in the standings last year. He is a man of pride; hence, his biggest goal will be to make the team win another trophy. A team cannot win the trophy based on one player," Kaif said on his YouTube channel.

"If Jadeja has to be sacrificed for the team’s good, Dhoni will do it. People say how Dhoni operates based on friendships and does it, giving them a couple of extra chances. But it doesn’t mean his focus goes away from winning. The goal is to make CSK a champion. That’s why he will let go of Jadeja if it has to be done. If Dhoni feels he can get a better option for the team, he will take the decision," remarked Kaif.
