The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s squad for the T20I series against Ireland and England, along with the team for the Asian Games 2026 in Japan.
Suryakumar Yadav, who led India to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 title, has been removed from the captaincy role as well as from the squad. Shreyas Iyer has been named as his replacement and will now lead the T20I side. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also been included in the squad. Apart from Sooryavanshi, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Prince Yadav has been also received maiden call-up in India's T20I squad.
This will be Iyer’s first T20I appearance since December 2023. His last match in the format came against Australia. Apart from Iyer, Mohammed Siraj has also been included in the T20I squads against England and Ireland, but pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah replaced him in the Asian Games squad. Notably, Mohammed Siraj and Prince Yadav are not included in India's squad for the Asian Games.

India is scheduled to play a five-match T20I series against England, followed by a three-match ODI series, which will start from July 1.
