Uttarakhand School Holiday: The Bageshwar district administration has declared a one-day holiday for all schools from Classes 1 to 12 and Anganwadi centres on Monday, August 10, 2026, in view of the heavy rainfall warning issued by the Meteorological Department. The order applies to government, non-government and private educational institutions across the district.
According to the order issued on August 9, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, has issued an orange alert for Bageshwar, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places, along with thunderstorms and lightning. The forecast also indicates the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy spells of rain in the district on August 10.

Bageshwar Schools Closed on August 10
Considering the weather conditions and the safety of students, District Magistrate N.S. Nabiyal ordered the closure of all government, non-government and private schools in Bageshwar district. The holiday will apply to students studying in Classes 1 to 12.
The administration has also included Anganwadi centres in the closure order. Therefore, students, children and parents should take note that educational and Anganwadi activities will remain suspended for the day.
DM Issues Order Amid Orange Alert
The district administration said the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure following the weather warning. Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning can create risks for students travelling to and from schools, particularly in areas vulnerable to waterlogging, landslides and other monsoon-related hazards.
The order, dated August 9, 2026, has been issued from the Office of the District Disaster Management Authority, Bageshwar.
Officials Asked to Ensure Compliance
The Chief Education Officer and District Programme Officer, Bageshwar, have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order. The administration has also warned that necessary action will be taken against institutions or individuals found violating the instructions.
Parents and students are advised to follow official updates from the district administration and educational authorities before planning any school-related activity on August 10.
Rain Alert Also Issued for Nearby Districts
The weather warning also mentions the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms in isolated areas of Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts during the following hours. Areas including Tapovan, Badrinath, Govindghat and Gamshali and surrounding regions have been specifically mentioned.
With the monsoon remaining active across Uttarakhand, residents in vulnerable areas are advised to remain alert and follow instructions issued by the local administration.
