Kerala Board Exams 2026 Postponed: The Kerala government has postponed Class 10 and 12 exams scheduled for students from the Indian expatriate community in Middle East centers this week. The announcement was made by State General Education Minister V. Sivankutty, citing the deteriorating security situation in the region. The revised dates will be announced later.
Students who are unable to appear for the exams due to flight disruptions, local restrictions resulting from unrest, and other reasons have been advised to submit applications to the Director of General Education through their headmasters or principals as soon as possible. Applications will be evaluated on merit, and the department will decide in favor of the affected students after careful consideration.
This will help ensure that no student's academic future is jeopardized by sudden geopolitical developments. Addressing a press conference, the minister said that the security situation in the Gulf has made it impossible to conduct public exams. Countries in the Gulf region include Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Kerala Postpones Exams for March 5, 6, & 7:
The government has decided to postpone the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam scheduled for March 5 in the Gulf region, he said. Education Minister Sivankutty said the higher secondary exams scheduled for March 5, 6, and 7 in the region have also been postponed. The minister added, "The new dates for the postponed exams will be announced later."
The Gulf region is home to a significant population of Keralites, and thousands of students appear for state board exams from centers there every year. Currently, there are seven centers in the Middle East for 633 Class 10 students. Additionally, there are several centers for Class 12 students.
The situation has necessitated immediate administrative intervention to protect the interests of students. Education officials said they are closely monitoring developments and will issue further instructions if necessary.
