UP Colleges And Universities To Enforce Mandatory Uniforms Following Governor Anandiben Patel's Directive

UP Dress Code Rule In Colleges And Universities: In a major shift for higher education in Uttar Pradesh, students in all colleges and universities will now have to wear prescribed uniforms. Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of State Universities, Anandiben Patel, officially approved this decision during a review meeting held at Jan Bhawan. The meeting focused on government and aided colleges affiliated with Janayak Chandrashekhar University, Ballia. The Governor emphasised that implementing a uniform system, similar to schools, will effectively eliminate social inequality and the scope of discrimination among students.

Is freedom from school uniforms over?

Traditionally, completing school meant freedom from a strict dress code for most students entering higher education. However, with this new mandate, college and university students across the state will no longer be exempt from wearing uniforms. The rule aims to foster a disciplined and uniform academic environment across all higher education campuses in Uttar Pradesh.

UP Dress Code: How will Women Become Self-reliant?

Beyond the dress code, Governor Anandiben Patel strongly advocated for women's empowerment through education. She directed institutions to introduce employment-oriented vocational courses starting this academic session. To help women and girls become self-reliant, she specifically suggested practical training courses in fields such as beautician skills, mehndi application, GST accounting, bindi manufacturing, and the preparation of millet-based foods.

What Are the Updates on girls' safety?

The Governor also prioritised infrastructure and security improvements in women's colleges, demanding immediate improvement of hostel conditions. She emphasised providing proper guidance to female students to protect them from anti-social influences. Furthermore, she ordered the establishment of dedicated committees where female students can safely share and resolve their personal and academic grievances.
