Women Make Beeline Outside Congress Headquarters In Lucknow, Claim Rs 1 Lakh Promised During Poll Campaign

The Congress, during its campaign for the Lok Sabha polls, issued a guarantee card promising Rs 1 lakh for the women. Although the grand old party hasn’t yet secured a majority to form the government, a large number of women have made a beeline outside the party’s office in Lucknow flaunting the Congress’ guarantee card. The women stated that the Congress had issued a guarantee card in their election manifesto, promising to give one lakh rupees, and they had come to claim it, Jagran.com reported.

The women alleged that they were not being allowed to enter the Congress headquarters.

Congress Vice President Dinesh Singh said the Congress had issued such cards and people present at the party office distributed them today as well. However, a decision on it is yet to be made.

The guarantee card issued by Rahul Gandhi’s brigade during the poll campaign has become a talking point after the declaration of Lok Sabha polls results. Now, it has become difficult for Congress to persuade people that it hasn’t yet formed a government.

Showing a big sign of revival, the Congress party amassed 99 seats in the Lok Sabha polls 2024, registering a gain of 46 seats. The INDIA bloc garnered 234 seats. Samajwadi Party performed extremely well in Uttar Pradesh and registered victory in 37 seats.

The political arithmetic came out as a major blow to the BJP as it hasn’t been able to surpass the magic number on its own. However, the NDA alliance has secured a majority. The saffron party individually got 240 seats while the NDA got 292.
