'Adipurush' Box Office Collection Day 17: Prabhas' film, 'Adipurush', is experiencing stagnant box office performance now. Negative reviews by both critics and audiences have affected the film’s business. If this trend persists, the film may be pulled out of most theatres by the end of the week. Despite being in its third week, 'Adipurush' is still struggling to achieve a box office collection of Rs 300 crore in India.
Released globally on June 16, 'Adipurush' is a 3D movie that faced criticism due to its lack of authenticity and below-average visual effects (VFX).
'Adipurush', which was anticipated to be the costliest Indian film with a massive budget of Rs 600 crore, reportedly earned approximately Rs 1 crore in India on Sunday, July 2. Official figures are still awaited. This brings the film's 17-day collection at the domestic box office to an estimated range of Rs 284-285 crore.
About Adipurush:
'Adipurush' is an adaptation of Valmiki's Ramayana, a mythological narrative. The 3D movie, helmed by writer-director Om Raut, has received widespread criticism nationwide for its use of colloquial dialogues, subpar visual effects, and unengaging screenplay. The film stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh.
Sunny Singh portrayed the character of Lakshman, while Devdatta Nage depicted Lord Hanuman in the film. The technical crew of ‘Adipurush’ includes cinematographer Karthik Palani and editors Apurva Motiwale Sahai and Ashish Mhatre.
After the release of its first teaser, when 'Adipurush' received severe backlash, Om Raut soon took the feedback into account and decided to delay the film by six months, assuring that the final product would be of high quality.
Unfortunately, all his promises have fallen short, as the film is now regarded as mediocre at best. Due to controversy surrounding the portrayal of mythology and its representation in the film, there was also a demand for the film to be banned by certain groups.
