The duo met in 2013 on the reality dating show The Bachelorette India – Mere Khayaalon Ki Mallika, hosted by Rohit Roy on Life OK. Based on the American format The Bachelor, the 15-episode series featured 30 men competing for the actor's affection.
During the finale in November 2013, 24-year-old Vijay Singh won the competition over 29 other contestants to be chosen by the then 36-year-old actor. Throughout the season, Vijay drew media attention after arranging a date that included a proposal in front of the Taj Mahal.
How Mallika Sherawat And Vijay Singh Relationship Ended?
In an interview with The Times of India, Vijay Singh later opened up about what went wrong once the television cameras stopped rolling and contracts ended.
Explaining the terms following the show's conclusion, Vijay said, "There was a one-year contract after the show ended which stated that Mallika could marry me within a year and be with me, and after that she could choose to not marry me if she did not wish to. So for about a year, she kept inviting me to LA, but I could not go there to visit her."

Vijay added, "After one year, she started subtly dropping hints that 'I was too young for her' and 'Long-distance relationships never work', insinuating that the relationship was over. After a few months, she even stopped taking my phone calls. And I also stopped. I also have self-respect, and how much would I pursue her?"
Expressing his disappointment with reality TV formats, he remarked, "I now realise that such reality shows are completely fake. I came to the show thinking that I would get married, but nothing like that happened. Secondly, except Rahul Mahajan, nobody has ended up being married on the show. It is all fixed, and everything works according to contracts."
Where Are They Now?
Vijay Singh has since left acting and modelling to become an entrepreneur managing homestays and adventure camps in Dharamshala. He is married to his childhood sweetheart, Sunita, and the couple has a daughter named Vivianna.

Meanwhile, Mallika Sherawat has been confirmed as a contestant on the upcoming reality series The Traitors Season 2, hosted by Karan Johar, which will begin streaming on Prime Video from August 15.
