Suriya 46 Update: After grabbing attention with a performance in Retro, actor Suriya is all set for his next Tamil project. He is teaming up with director Venky Atluri, who is known for delivering Lucky Baskhar. The movie, which is tentatively titled Suriya 46, went on floors on Monday with an official pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. Amid the rumours of the female lead, actress Mamitha Baiju's presence at the event hints at her involvement in the movie.

The event was attended by Suriya, Venky Atluri, GV Prakash, and other members of the team. The glimpse from the project that went on the floors was shared by film's production house, Sithara Entertainment on X. The post stated, "The most anticipated #Suriya46 has been officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony! @Suriya_offlx #VenkyAtluri unite to create magic on screen! Thank you #Trivikram garu for gracing and marking the beginning of this journey with the first clap Shoot begins at the end of May! Catch it in theaters Summer 2026!" The launch has sparked significant excitement among fans, especially with the surprising reveal of the film’s female lead. Mamitha Baiju posing with Suriya confirmed the pairing of the actors.

The photo of the duo quickly went viral, and fans chimed in the comments section. One user posted, "Thalaivaa @Suriya_offl#Suriya46 will be definitely a mega blockbuster congrats @_mamithabaijufinally paired."

The announcement of Suriya 46 was made during the pre-event of Retro in Hyderabad by Suriya.
He was heard saying, "We are associating with Sithara Entertainment Vamsi garu and my dear brother Venky here. This will be my next. As you all have been asking, after a long time, with beautiful association and beautiful talent here, we will be doing my next Tamil film with dear Venky. I’ll be shooting a lot, I’ll be spending a lot of time here in beautiful Hyderabad."

Meanwhile, Suriya is basking in the success of Retro, which also starred Pooja Hegde. The Tamil romantic action movie was released in theatres on May 1 and is soon going to make its OTT debut.
