Nosferatu Twitter Review: Nosferatu, a gothic horror film and a new adaptation of the 1922 silent classic, hit theaters today, January 10. The movie, which blends gothic romance with chilling horror, is attracting a lot of attention on social media. While some internet users have criticized the film, others have called it a "comfort movie."
Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers, who is popular for his films The Lighthouse and The Witch, is set against the backdrop of 1838 Germany. Eggers’ Nosferatu offers a fresh take on the vampire mythos, infused with a richly gothic atmosphere. The narrative centers on Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp), a young bride whose psychic bond with an age-old evil brings forth the horrific Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgard). Skarsgard, barely recognizable due to layers of disturbing prosthetics, brings Orlok to life with a sinister energy that is both terrifying and fascinating. Apart from Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgard, Nosferatu also stars Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe.
Those who attended the first-day, first-show of Nosferatu shared their reviews on X. Check them out:
Reviewing the film, one user wrote, "I don’t want anyone to ever recreate this movie. It must remain untouched and preserved," while another user commented, "Nosferatu was an amazing movie. I cried at the ending, lol. Saw it on release day."
Another comment read, "For me, Nosferatu felt more like a comedy. It really was not scary, and the super-familiar story took a lot of the excitement away. The dialogue was pretty funny throughout the movie." Some fans didn’t like the movie and wrote, "Gotta be honest… I did not like Nosferatu. On paper, the movie is great, however, I just felt like it dragged on."

Without a doubt, Nosferatu is definitely one of the best horror movies of this decade. It was amazing in giving a new and dark take on a horror classic from 100 years ago. I definitely recommend this movie. 👍👍😱😁 #Nosferatu pic.twitter.com/0riiWMoiV2
