Thug Life OTT Release: Kamal Haasan will play the lead in the upcoming movie, Thug Life. The Tamil movie is among the most eagerly awaited productions from the Tollywood industry this year. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming magnum opus, which is helmed by Mani Ratnam and features a star-studded ensemble.

Thug Life will be released in theaters on June 5 this year. With no other major motion pictures to contend with at the box office, the Tamil movie will be released throughout India. Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan star in Mani Ratnam's directorial which also stars Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Abhirami, Joju George, Nasser and others. The song Jingucha features a brief appearance by Sanya Malhotra.

Thug Life OTT Release UPDATE

Kamal Haasan stated on Tuesday that it was a practical decision to lengthen the time between the theatrical and over-the-top release of his next movie, Thug Life. He hoped his initiative would encourage other industry professionals to follow suit during a movie promotional event. 

Kamal Haasan said,"It is not even an experiment, it's a pragmatic thing to do. I'm glad that the OTT (Netflix) agreed. We sat together, and it was not a negotiation. It's a plan, which maybe others could follow."

The actor further added, "It will make the industry healthy and we are glad that we were the first to be there to avail of that opportunity," Haasan told reporters here when asked about the eight-week window between the theatrical and OTT release of Thug Life."

Over the years, the time between a movie's theatrical run and its OTT release has been getting shorter; instead of the customary eight weeks, many people now choose a four-week gap.

Earlier, Netflix revealed that Thug Life will exclusively stream on the OTT giant post theatrical run.

Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan will headline the Tamil movie Thug Life. The veteran star will portray Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, while Silambarasan plays the role of his adopted son. Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies collaborate to develop the magnum opus. The music was composed by AR Rahman. The movie was edited by Sreekar Prasad and photographed by Ravi K. Chandran.

The makers of Thug Life unveiled the trailer of the much-awaited movie recently. Kamal Haasan adopts Silambarasan as a youngster, and the two go on to build an empire together. But when the forces work against one another, everything seems to fall apart.
