About Thug Life

Thug Life offers a dark, gripping story set against the grim backdrop of a world ruled by murder, crime, and shifting allegiances. Rangaraaya Sakthivel Naicker, played by Kamal Haasan, is a strong and mysterious character who works in the background of a significant criminal organization. In the teaser for the movie, Kamal Haasan's character introduces the term "yakuza," implying a connection between his persona and the international criminal scene.

During a press conference at Chennai's Kalaivanar Arangam, Kamal Haasan introduced the movie's first single, 'Jinguchaa,' which presents music by Oscar winner AR Rahman. The actor recalled a time when he and Mani Ratnam would sit on a parked scooter in Eldams Road in Chennai's Alwarpet, talking about their aspirations to become filmmakers, reports Hindu.

Kamal Haasan said, "Thug Life is the kind of cinema I’d like to see... I’m glad that I got to act and produce it too. It has been done with a lot of love for a discerning audience."

Mani Ratnam also shared his two cents about the collaboration with Kamal Haasan. He said, "After many years, I got a chance to work with Kamal again. It’s not that he’s a brilliant actor; it’s the fact that he loves cinema. I admire how he balances mainstream cinema with experimental cinema. When he’s acting, half the burden of the director is reduced."
