Paresh Rawal has delivered standout performances throughout his career in the industry. He is currently shooting for Bhooth Bangla, which also stars Akshay Kumar. Recently, he slammed the mindset of people who try to control the tastes of the audience, such as those calling commercially successful films like Pathaan and Jawan "terrible."

Having been in the industry for more than 40 years, Paresh Rawal addressed the trend of criticizing successful films. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor said, "There will be successful films that a section of people may call 'ghatiya' (terrible), but I believe that is unfair. Those films are successful because the audience likes them. Who are you to call their taste terrible? You can say what works or doesn't work for you, but how can you expect the same blanket taste for everyone? This is fascism of another kind."

He also shared that the success of popular cinema shouldn’t prevent filmmakers from making good films. Paresh stated, "It is an easy way out to dunk on popular cinema. For example, if a commercial film like Pathaan hits the screens and becomes a success, that isn't stopping you from making what you think constitutes good cinema. Please do it if you feel like it. What's the point of abusing films like Pathaan or Jawan? It is absolutely pointless."

Further explaining his point, he credited filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for being a game-changer in Bollywood by bringing in a new wave. The actor said, "According to me, Anurag Kashyap is a big game-changer. Because of him, a new wave of writers, directors, and mind-blowing actors has come in. Today, there’s also OTT, which has changed the mindset of producers as well as the audience. Who would have thought a film like Laapataa Ladies could get made?"
