Ranbir Kapoor, who has been in the limelight due to the success of his recently released 'Animal,' is reportedly gearing up for his next venture -- Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana.' The film has been generating significant buzz since producer Madhu Mantena announced ambitious plans for a trilogy based on the epic in 2020. Nitesh Tiwari is directing it. Although the film has been in the pre-production phase for a while, recent reports indicate that preparations are underway to kickstart shooting.
According to a user's encounter with Ranbir Kapoor at the airport, the actor himself confirmed that production for 'Ramayana' is scheduled to commence in the summer of 2024. As per the tweets, the Animal actor reportedly discussed details about the film, mentioning Sai Pallavi and Yash's involvement in portraying the roles of Sita Ma and Ravana, respectively. It read, "Standing ahead of Ranbir Kapoor in the immigration queue and talking about #Animal + his next crazy project wasn’t something I'd signed up for this Bombay trip. And what a lovely guy!"
In a subsequent tweet, the user revealed, "Woah, this blew up! Everyone asking, he said 'Ramayana,' goes on floor early summers. Not sure I should divulge anything more than that, but the star cast is frickin’ crazy... wow, #Bollywood is really taking it to the next level starting 2023."

About Ramayana
Ranbir Kapoor will reportedly play Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi is set to portray Sita. Additionally, the acclaimed Kannada actor Yash, known for his role in 'KGF,' is rumoured to take on the role of Ravana in this epic adaptation. The project, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ravi Udyawar, is being crafted for the big screen. Initially, Alia Bhatt was considered for the part of Sita, but due to scheduling conflicts, she opted out of the project.
A report in Pinkvilla earlier reported, "Ranbir and Sai Pallavi will start shooting for the film around the month of February 2024. The first part of the trilogy will focus more on Lord Ram and Sita, leading towards the conflict of Sita Haran. The duo will be shooting for the film from February till August 2024, before calling it a wrap for Ramayana: Part One. Yash has a rather extended appearance in Ramayana: Part One, however, his character will dominate the proceedings in the second part, which is set in Sri Lanka. He has allotted 15 days to shoot for Ramayana: Part One."
"Nitesh Tiwari and team have been working actively on creating the world of Ramayana and the blueprint is finally all ready. The VFX plates are prepared by the Oscar Winning Company, DNEG and it’s a world that would blow away the minds of audiences. However, the strength of Ramayana won’t be the visual but the simplistic storytelling and compelling inter-character emotions," it added.
