The Kerala Story 2, which was produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah's Sunshine Pictures and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, debuted in theaters on February 27. Political leaders in Kerala have criticised the movie, calling it propaganda. Amidst this, The Madras High Court prohibited cable TV companies and internet service providers from illegally airing the movie.

The Kerala Story 2 producer, who found copyright infringement before the movie was released, filed two applications. Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy passed the interim order.

Sunshine Pictures  petitioned the court for immediate relief against a number of respondents, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and other cable TV providers to stop their film, The Kerala Story 2, from being broadcast without permission. The plaintiff presented the CBFC certificate as proof of ownership, identifying itself as the film's producer, and the court noted that the claim was filed to prevent the unauthorised transmission of the film.

The Madras Court noted that if illegal broadcasting is not stopped at the threshold in cases like this, permanent harm is certain. It further recognised that the requested relief was broad and might have an impact on one or more respondents' legitimate economic interests. As a result, the Court ordered the producer to pay an compensation for the relief granted.

The Court issued an ad-interim order prohibiting the film's illegal transmission until March 23, subject to the indemnity requirement.

The Kerala Story 2, which is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, centers on the lives of three young women who are coerced into religious conversions and enter into what the movie characterises as dishonest marriages. The Kerala High Court postponed the movie's release on Thursday due to legal issues. As a result, the movie was pulled out of theaters just hours before it was supposed to be released. The hold was eventually lifted by an HC division bench, enabling the movie's premiere on Friday, February 27. Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, Aishwarya Ojha, Arjan Singh Aujla, and Yuktam Kholsa are among the actors in the movie.

The Kerala Story has made Rs 12.80 crore nett at the box office in India in its first four days in theaters, as per Sacnilk report.
